Position Summary:
The Preschool Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. This role assists with daily classroom activities, supervision, instruction, and maintaining a positive atmosphere that supports each child’s growth.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities.
Help supervise children to ensure safety, engagement, and appropriate behavior at all times.
Support learning through participation in small groups, center time, and one-on-one interactions.
Assist with preparing materials, setting up activities, and cleaning up the classroom.
Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
Help with diapering, toileting, and personal care as needed.
Follow Creative Curriculum or other program curriculum and classroom routines.
Assist in completing observations and documentation as guided by the Lead Teacher.
Support inclusive practices for children with diverse needs, abilities, and cultures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.
Follow all licensing regulations, program policies, and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred.
Experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting is preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff.
Strong communication, patience, and reliability.
Must meet state background check, health, and training requirements.
Work Schedule:
Hours and schedule may vary depending on program needs.
May assist in extended-care or summer programs as required.
